Barn Time!

While in Texas we got to spend several days in Austin with my family and of course we went to the barn! Here is a pic of the barn itself:

Isn't it cool!?

Here's my family!

Reister loved swimming in his "Texas" blow up baby pool!
Dad also found a way for adults to cool off by making a large water trough into a small pool. He and Sean did a great job of putting the rocks around it to make it nicer looking!

Great Grandparents!

We got to see my grandparents on both sides! That means Reister got to meet his great-grandparents and they got to meet him!

Here's me and Papa talking...

Mimi loving on Reister

Here's all of us - sorry the color is weird - I had to "autofix" because it was dark and it did weird stuff to our skin color

Here's Reister and Bama. He loves the stuffed dog she gave him

My mom and Bama feeding Reister his first pudding! He loved it!

The Fight

Reister got to meet his cousin Sadie who was born only 3 weeks before him. We adults probably enjoyed watching them play together more than they actually did (how much do one year olds really PLAY together?) - but they did get to play and Reister got to learn a little bit about what that means - sharing, etc. This scene took place the second night we were in Texas. Watch the progression of events...

Birthday with Cousin Sadie

Well, although we didn't announce it ahead of time, I'll go ahead and tell you all that we took a short trip back to the states. We left our city August 4th at 7:10am and arrived in DFW August 5th around 9:30am. All in all it took around 40 hours of traveling, 6 airports, 5 planes and lots of bottles and jarred baby food. Reister did surprisingly well and it was well worth it to see family and a couple friends while we were back. I am sorry to everyone that we didn't get to see! We were able to see my grandparents on my dad's side who are not doing so well. We also got to see both of our parents and all of our siblings and their families. I also got to see my other grandmother and step-grandfather. Much thanks to Mike & Sandra (Micah's parents) who provided the airline miles to make the trip! We left DFW on August 20th and then spent almost 2 weeks in Thailand. Here is a video of Reister and his cousin Sadie Grace as we celebrated both of their birthdays while back in Texas. I'll be making several more posts with other pics of our time away.

back home

We have been traveling for almost a month now and haven't had the time to blog. Hopefully in the next few days I'll get all my pictures sorted through and let you all see what we've been up to! Reister did turn one on September 1st! We were able to celebrate along the way. We got home today and it feels really good! We're looking forward to sleeping in our own beds. Until the next post! -Michelle

What's up?

These are from earlier in the month at little Micah's 2nd birthday party. Reister had fun playing with the other kids and especially on the inside play gym they have. Oh yeah, it was a Mickey Mouse Party!

"Mom & Dad, can I have one of these!?"

We gave Micah a small guitar so he could play like his Dad!

Barn Update

Here are some recent pictures that my Dad sent us of the barn. Isn't it beautiful? Austin got so much rain that the road out to the barn from my parents' house was closed. The lake has been closed too. We look forward to enjoying the barn ourselves someday!

camping

A couple weeks ago Micah and my brother, Sean went camping a couple hours away. Reister and I stayed back to hold down the fort :) Here are some pictures from their trip - looks beautiful. I hope I get to go someday!

First steps

Well Reister has been "learning" to walk the last couple of weeks. Today he really started taking strides around the room for longer and longer distances. He turns 10 months tomorrow!
Here's a video (sorry about the diaper, he just seems most comfortable without clothes on - not that it's hot here but without AC inside, it can get a little stuffy)

Fun times

Here's Reister with Dad's basketball. Micah was so happy when Reister found the ball and started playing with it. Signs of a future in the NBA?

My Mom brought Reister his own pair of sunglasses because the sun is so strong here. He likes them but every time we put them on he closes his eyes for a couple seconds. Sometimes it's hard to keep him from taking them off but if we distract him enough when we go out he forgets he has them on. :)

Below is a video of Reister playing Peek a Boo in a restaurant the other night. His latest accomplishments include playing peek a boo, saying "Dog" and "Ball" and "Down", taking a couple steps on his own in between furniture. He has 2 upper teeth and is getting in another lower one. He can feed himself banana pieces, cheerios, and even likes shredded cheese! We're so proud of our precious boy. He had a great time with his Lili and Poppo (my parents) and is glad his Uncle Sean is still here to play with him. Unfortunately it's sideways again because I took it on my cell phone. Don't know if there's a way to fix that.

Family Visit

My family got here June 5th and we've been having a great time with them.

Here's Reister with his Uncle Sean

We went to visit a local monastery last week -
Here's Reister enjoying his Daddy
Here's me and my mom at the monastery -
Yesterday we went to see the famous salt lake in our province -
as we were driving down to the shore, we ran into a herd of sheep - they wouldn't move out of the way - it was really funny!
My parents by the lake -
Mom, Dad and Sean at the stop on the way to the lake where you can see the Sun Moon Mountain in the background - still snow capped!

Nine months

Reister turned 9 months old June 1st. Here are some pictures from then and some more from the beginning of May when we went to see the tulips at a local park with some friends and their baby.

He doesn't always look like this -
