The Barn

Some of you know about the Barn... It's a historic barn from Kansas that my (Michelle) dad had transported down to Austin and then has slowly been restoring. Mom, Dad & Sean all work hard in almost every spare moment they have. They often have international students and their families out there. Here are some recent pictures for your viewing enjoyment!

Pictures from vacation

We spent time on a peninsula that was essentially an island because you can only get to it by boat. How fun - Reister's first time at the ocean! Not sure if he'll remember it....













These are two other babies born in Thailand in September. The middle one, Keely, was born the same day as Reister. The one on the left, Judah, was born almost a month after the other two.... Never would have guessed, huh?

First time swimming!

This week was Reister's first time in the pool! He seemed to like it pretty well. He'll get to do it several more times before we head back to the Shining City. Here are some pics from our time in the water!

A cute picture

Our friends posted this on their blog and I thought it was cute. It's of Reister's older buddy, Micah. I bet in about a year Reister will be chasing Micah around everywhere and teaming up against Micah's soon to be born little sister, Zion. They live in our city with us and are great company!

New Reister Pics

We love being Reister's parents. At almost 5 months old, he is such a joy. He has started eating rice cereal and likes it (although we're not sure if his tummy does!) He loves to smile and laugh still. He may be close to sitting up - who knows. He rolls from back to front and front to back - not too often, but at least we know he can do it. He can transfer his toys from one hand to another and will play for a long time by himself (if he's in the mood). What a great boy! We praise our Father for such a special gift. Here he is in a cute new outfit compliments of our friends David & Nichole!

4 Months Old

On January 1st Reister turned 4 months! He's growing fast - he weighs almost 16 pounds! He really loves to smile and laugh and is almost rolling over. Actually today he rolled from back to tummy while we were out of the room. (Don't worry he was on a pallet on the floor) Isn't that supposed to be the harder direction?! He likes his baths and seems to be a ham for the camera too!

A busy Christmas

We had a busy Christmas weekend, taking part in several local activities. That Saturday night we had a small party with some younger friends. Here's a picture of our fun with them. They all were enamoured by Reister as you can tell!

We went to another American family's home on Christmas night and a family pic taken! The green shirt and red pants were the best we could do for Reister's Christmas outfit.

Reister wanted to "eat" the stuffed monkey we gave to our friends' daughter!

At the end of the night, Reister had had a LONG day!

3 year Anniversary Fun

On November 15 this year Micah & I celebrated 3 years of marriage. I had been thinking about what I wanted to do to celebrate and decided I wanted us to go get our pictures professionally done. They have these photography studios here mainly for wedding photos but they dress you all up and take your picture. I thought it would be really fun. Well we dropped Reister off with some of our American friends and went around 1:30pm. At 7pm we FINALLY left! It took almost 6 hours to get "dolled" up and to take the pictures. The thing that took the longest time was my makeup & hair. You'd think I was getting married all over again. We took pictures in two sets of outfits. One was us in evening gown/suit but we didn't like any of those pictures they were REALLY cheesy. The other was in the traditional outfits we're wearing below. Hope you enjoy the pictures, we sure got a kick out of them. By the way, today we finally got to pick up the finished product - we took them on November 15. Who knew it could take so long!?

What's in a name?

Many people have asked what the meaning of Reister is... or where the name came from. We named him after Michelle's mom's maiden name. It is in honor of Michelle's grandfather who died before she was born of Leukemia. He was a central Texas farmer and a follower of JC. Here is a picture of him - Milton Rister Sr. - in 1975.
